ATO Director Penalty Notice (also known as Director Penalty Notice or DPN)
If you fail to meet a repayment arrangement with the Australian Taxation Office (“ATO”), the ATO may issue to current and former directors an ATO Director Penalty Notice or alternatively a Statutory Notice.
If you have an ATO debt, telephone your accountant or us, before you enter into an agreement with the ATO. We can discuss your options.
If you receive an ATO Director Penalty Notice, call us immediately. You have 14 days from the date of the Notice to choose from one of the options outlined in the Notice to avoid personal liability for the debt. No extensions of time are offered by the ATO. We can discuss your options to avoid personal liability and also, remedial action to save the business, or if not possible, formal administration options.
This information is not a substitute for advice concerning your circumstances. Liability limited by a Scheme approved under the Professional Standards Legislation.
